A pile of ro ad signs half-trashed and piled up on a building-site, to indicate the site is in construction.

Website under construction, a couple of entries still pending, no photos with the streets yet, layout not finalized...

This started with a book (last few pages under review) and so far 1889 of the 1891 articles entered, 1 or 2 links may go nowhere.

All author earnings of A Rambling Dictionary of Tallinn Street Names to be donated to the foundation or donate here.

The Website

Not intended at the beginning, the present website is taking on a life of its own, with plans for relevant discussion forums, picture galleries and, over time, more non-streetname entries.

In theory, it will be funded by advertising relevant to people in Tallinn, to be determined.

A percentage of profits (also to be determined) to be donated to the foundation.

Apparently, a company that uses its owner's name is considered more trustworthy because they put themselves on the line.

This is me, in Tallinn this spring (2025), on a 3-month spree to check details, take photos (about 12K), explore (ave. 15K/day), and so on. I think I covered every street in Kesklinn (apart from Mõigu), most of Põhja-Tallinn and some Kristiine.

Koore (Koor)

Cream. Listed in TT although not, actually, in Tallinn. Be this as it may, we keep it for the entertainment value of which it has, for those of goldfish intellects, well, not much actually: formerly known as Kirsi. And in the present case, given its tree-related neighbors, it means bark (other translations include skin or peel). But still not in Tallinn.

Bastioni aed (0)

Bastion. Not a street, but a garden/park named in 1989 for its proximity to the Tallinn defensive walls, and no longer a garden, but a terrace?... Located at ///fidget.slightly.below, which is not much help. In fact, you need to go through the current (2025) occupants of Viru värav 23, the Tai Boh restaurant, up the stairs, and through the back to discover a faux grass floor of outdoor dining. What lies beneath, we know not.

Ginkgo green. After, no surprise, a gingko (which is how most people spell it wrong) in the park on the corner of Süda P. and Pärnu.

Enela (Enelas)

Spirea, meadowsweet, Spiraea spp., shrub of the rose family. Street neither built, nor now planned to be built.
