Muhu (Muhu)
Island between mainland Estonia and Saaremaa. Also muhk:muhu, bump, swelling (chilblains are külmamuhud) and, for those who still remember them, bubonic boil, but one hopes the street-naming committee did not have quite so much imagination. Part of an Estonian island group, see Saaremaa.
Mulla (Muld)
Earth, soil. Of possible mixed interpretation. There used to be clay pits in the area extensive enough for local brick factory/ies(?) to dig for raw materials. See Mullamaa for related discussion.
Mullamaa (Mullamaa)
Term not found in any bilingual online dictionary. Saagpakk gives ‘mold’, EKSS gives various explanations revolving around rich, piled-up earth, and sonaveeb.ee suggests rohke mullaga, mullakas maa, so I’m going with this: ‘rich loamy land or soil’. Mulla põik since 1958 then this from 2017. Street abutting Kesa. Pending... Can any agronomists help here?
