Names
Võrgu (Võrk)
Net (also mesh, network, web, grid, plexus, etc.). Named after a nearby net-making factory. Renamed (1980-2002) as Kalasadama during the Soviet occupation.
Võrgu V. (Vassili Võrk, 1898-1977)
Colonel of the 8th Estonian Tallinn Rifle Corps (or Lieutenant Colonel of the 300th Rifle Regiment), commandant of Tallinn for three days in September 1944, the story of him converting three Red Army gentlemen attempting to acquire high-discount vodka from the Rosen (now Liviko) distillery into definitive teetotalers may well be apocryphal. Soviet occupation renaming (1979-1995) of Arbu.
Võrgukivi (Võrgukivi)
Sinker, small stone used as weight for fishing-net, or large stone used as anchor, lit. netstone. See Poru, see also Kivi. Interestingly, there is a Võrgukuuride kivi (lit. ‘net-sheds’ rock, at ///download.shopper.remodels) about 2.5 km SW raising the question again (see Lõuka) as to possible catalysts for starting street-name groups. Part of a fishing-tackle group, see also Västra. For other erratic-themed locations, see Hallikivi.
