Tagamaa (Tagamaa)
Hinterland, back country, heartland. Named after a settlement / village founded by Swedes in the north of Naissaar and nicknamed Tagaküla (or Swedish Bakbyn, both lit. ‘back’village, although ‘beyond’village may be more appropriate due to its location north of the island’s 2nd village Lõunaküla, i.e. southern village aka Sw. Storbyn or big village). For the sake of completion, the 3rd village is Väikeheinamaa (Sw. Lillängin, Mod. Sw. would end in -en), or little meadow. See also Eerikneeme.
