Martsa (Martsa)

Said to be a colloquial or vernacular term for limestone bank. Who am I to argue? Me. The name is suspected (1 suspecter: me) to be taken from the very rare instances of Baltic klint associated with a village called Martsa (pop. 30) in Ida-Virumaa, close to the Russian border, involving descriptions such as ‘Martsa pank’ where the ‘Martsa’ was mistaken for another term for limestone rather than the village name. But don’t quote me on this. Any geologists out there care to comment?
