Jaanilille (Jaanilill)
Best known as one of the names for Pääsusilm, bird’s-eye primrose, but also an alternative name for a number of plants: harilik härghein, no English name, but natt och dag (night and day) in Swedish, and Иван-да-Марья (Ivan and Mary) in Russian, Melampyrum nemorosum; keskmine ristik, zigzag clover, Trifolium medium (see Ristiku); liht-naistepuna, common St John’s wort or Tipton’s weed, Hypericum perforatum (see Naistepuna); harilik äiatar or äiatar, field scabious (but see Tähtpea), Knautia arvensis.
