Astangu (Astang):
Terrace, cliff, escarpment, bluff. Since COVID, the western 400 m of the street (from Kotermaa) closes at night for several weeks in April every year allowing frogs, also toads and newts to safely cross one of the “largest amphibian migration corridors” in Estonia on their way to the breeding ponds. All amphibians are protected in Estonia. Prior to this, local volunteers did their best to ensure their safety. Plans for a tunnel are, um, underway.
