Little spring. Three similar acceptions: 1) (biological) vessel, vein or artery, the one more commonly used today; 2) (general) groove, slot; 3) (geological) lode, vein. Here, named after the winding brooklet or spring on the Nõmme-Mustamäe border.

Sõstramäe (Sõstramägi) Symbol designating a Tallinn "Allasum", or Ward.

Former farm name: lit. currant homestead (see Mäe for discussion).

Staapli (Staapel)

Usually HQ, military ‘staff’, but here, near the docks, slipway.

Sügise (Sügis)

Autumn, fall. Herbststraße in 1942. See also Talve. First known as Söreni (1885) German Sörenstraße (1893) then Sörensenstraße (1913), etc., after a gardener called Sören Thorenfeld who bought land between this street, Paldiski and Suve in 1810 and created a nursery. See also Šnelli.
