Vabarna (Vabarn)
Alternative, perhaps original, name for raspberry (cf. Vaarika). Etymology limited. EES records 4 FU cognates: Votic: võvvar; Olonets Karelian: vavarjo or vavadŕo; Ludic: babarm or vagarm; Veps: babarm; all of which seem typical of ‘babbling’ or ‘nursery’ words (see Nunnatorn). Odd-man-out, Livonian has ounõmōŗa (‘apple’ berry, see Õuna).
Vabe (Vabe)
Pole, paling or picket-fence upon which nets are hung to dry. Part of a fishing-tackle group, see also Võrgukivi.
Vabriku (Vabrik)
Factory, after an iron foundry built there in the 19th C. Renamed (1964-1990) as Rabtšinski I. during the Soviet occupation, and formerly known as Kleine Ziegelskoppelsche Straße, aka Väike-Telliskopli (about which, see Kopli).
Vae (Vaag)
Weighing-scales. Note: not content to have the most staggering number of declension/conjugation types (69, 170-odd or 594 according to source), or possibly because of having them, many Estonian words can be declined in various ways. This word can be either vaag:vae or vaag:vaagi. If asked to choose, just, er, say no. Street actually outside Tallinn, in Laagri.
